Hi,

I'm running an i7 920 and trying to overclock it up to 4Ghz atm. The temps when it gets there are pretty high, even with a Titan Fenrir on it.

My case (Cooler Master CM690) has mounting holes for 3 140mm fans, one at the bottom and 2 at the top. The one at the bottom is clogged up with wires so I won't bother with that, but I'm thinking of putting one in at the top. Would a second help at all?

Also if I were to put them in, should I rotate the Titan to blow air up, rather than across?

TIA :)

What temps are you getting?

These run flipping hot at the best of times

Well atm I'm running backed off at 3.3Ghz, but when I had it at 4Ghz, it got upto about 88C!

I know they run hot but a lot of people are saying for 24/7 you want 80C max. I've been able to do suicide runs at 4.4Ghz, but 4Ghz will do me. ATM I have minimum cooling so I definitely want at least 1 140mm fan, just wondering if 2 will be a help or a hindrance.

That is hot.

There are a few things to consider

Ambient temp, case temp, thermal paste, air flow through the case, most sre pretty linked though.

What other case fans do you have in there as standard?

Is the fan on the cooler running at full speed?

Be worth comparing your case temps against ambient, if it is high, then air flow is an issue.

I'm not too sure on case temps. I only have 3 fans atm. All are 120mm, one exhaust, one intro. I added a 3rd intro fan to see if that would help, but after 7V modding it it seems to do nothing at all.

The CPU fan does spin up when it's under load, it's using the speedstep fan control thing to sort that out. The PSU is mounted at the bottom upside down so that's not doing anything for the case.

I would guess case temp is about 35 or so, temperature in the room is a normal temp. I try to keep the window open as much as I can too vent the hot air that the beast produces.

Temps would give us an idea of what is going on.

Quick test, take the sidepanel off, and see if you get a reasonable temp drop
